| Learning Heaven....did anyone bring a map? |
Sisters, I have a special treat coming for you soon....our first Guest Blogger! That will be really fun. I'm not going to give you any details, you must wait on tenterhooks. . . But while you are waiting, if anyone is interested in doing a Guest Blog, just let me know! Our first guest did not volunteer, I snagged her...so be warned...LOL!
Now for today's post. Serendipity. You probably think you know what that word means, but whatever you are thinking...just set it aside...I have a new definition for you.
Serendipity is when your Bishop shares your favorite talk in his testimony. ---You love that talk?! Me too!!!--- So awesome. In case you missed it, or forgot (shame on you, but don't worry, it's our secret!) I'm going to share the link for you to enjoy. And if you have read it/watched it before, good, read it again. Well, I mean if you want to...but you know you do!
The talk is by Brad Wilcox. I love it because he talks about the Atonement and he explains it in a way that is a little different than I think we normally think of it...so beautiful it is! It reminds me of Pres. Spencer W. Kimball when speaking of the Savior he said, "No matter how much we speak of him it is never enough." TIs true.
Hey that reminds me- Bro. Broadbent was going to say something in Fast and Testimony meeting about the Atonement, but we were out of time. Are you thinking what I am thinking? *runs away to email, Bro. Broadbent...stops, returns* Oops, I guess I should finish this post first. . .
Ok, here is an excepr of Bro. Wilcox's talk. I would tell you it is my favorite, but the entire talk is my favorite...this will just give you a taste...
A BYU student once came to me and asked if we could talk. I said, “Of course. How can I help you?”
She said, “I just don’t get grace.”
I responded, “What is it that you don’t understand?”
She said, “I know I need to do my best and then Jesus does the rest, but I can’t even do my best.”
She then went on to tell me all the things she should be doing because she’s a Mormon that she wasn’t doing.
She continued, “I know that I have to do my part and then Jesus makes up the difference and fills the gap that stands between my part and perfection. But who fills the gap that stands between where I am now and my part?”
She then went on to tell me all the things that she shouldn’t be doing because she’s a Mormon, but she was doing them anyway.
Finally I said,“Jesus doesn’t make up the difference. Jesus makes all the difference. Grace is not about filling gaps. It is about filling us.”

Love it, Leslie!!!
ReplyDeletethanks leslie! i love reading this!
ReplyDeleteI really like the "filling us" concept. Too often I let myself go around feeling empty (thirsty?) while there sits a full pitcher of comfort next to me, just waiting for me to accept a "fill-up". Thanks for posting, Leslie!
ReplyDeleteGreat talks are worth hearing/reading again and again. Thanks for posting this!
ReplyDeleteI love that talk! Thanks for the link too. It is good to be reminded to listen to it again.
ReplyDeleteThis is one of my favorites! I caught a snatch of it a few years ago on BYUTV and didn't know the name of the talk. Thanks for posting it!
